About Us
White Spruce Archaeological Consulting provides comprehensive archaeological and cultural resource management services (CRM) in central Canada. The majority of our work consists of archaeological survey and assessments related to sustainable development in the province of Manitoba. We also have experience working with First Nations, forestry companies, and federal and provincial agencies. We offer training and employment positions for field assistants from First Nations communities, and maintain a policy of employing and training people within whose traditional territory we are working.
We offer a wide variety of different services to clients and produce accurate and professional technical and descriptive documents for our projects.
White Spruce Archaeological Services endeavours to deliver a professional level of service and commitment. We take pride in our commitment to working in close cooperation with local First Nations communities and the various private and governmental institutions.
Recent News
White Spruce Archaeology has been pleased to participate in an initiative sponsored by L.P. Canada, the First Nations Forestry Program and the Manitoba Heritage Grants Program. The project takes place in the Duck Mountains region of Manitoba and includes participants from the Tootinaowaziibeeng (Valley River) First Nation. The Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation is interested in taking an active part in managing and planning for the protection of the heritage resources that are in their traditional land use area. The project is designed to increase our understanding of the archaeological materials in this area and to develop participation in heritage resource management by actively involving First Nations youth in archaeological work. The project not only provides employment, but was an opportunity for the First Nations youth to explore their own heritage and, for some, it may provide encouragement for future involvement in heritage management.
